Higher sea levels mean that deadly and destructive storm surges push farther inland than they once did, which also means more frequent nuisance flooding. Disruptive and expensive, nuisance flooding is estimated to be from 300 percent to 900 percent more frequent within U.S. coastal communities than it was just 50 years ago.
The two major causes of global sea level rise are thermal expansion caused by warming of the ocean (since water expands as it warms) and increased melting of land-based ice, such as glaciers and ice sheets. The oceans are absorbing more than 90 percent of the increased atmospheric heat associated with emissions from human activity.
NASA's first two commercial deliveries to the moon are still on track despite the COVID-19 pandemic, according to agency leadership.
Last year, NASA hired Astrobotic and Intuitive Machines to carry science and technology projects to the surface of the moon next summer. These commercial lander missions will represent some of the earliest flights in NASA's Artemis program, which aims to land astronauts at the moon's south pole in 2024. Both companies agreed upon accepting the contracts to carry NASA payloads to the lunar surface in the summer of 2021 — but that was before COVID-19, the disease caused by a new coronavirus, froze much of the world.
About the Book
An asteroid storm is coming that will destroy Earth. A mysterious group within the government led by Colonel Cruikshank knew the storm was coming. They took extreme measures to keep the storm secret while building underground cities to protect the few and the fortunate. Cruikshank’s goal is that after the storm, his survivors will emerge from the protected cities as a more perfect humanity. He will create his utopian society named Arcadia, no matter what it takes.
Rick Munday is a husband, father, and struggling Astrophysicist who needs his grant approved. When Cruikshank learns that Rick’s grant proposal predicts the asteroid storm, he is drugged, kidnapped, and taken to an underground city named New Arcadia.
On his quest to escape from the Arcadians and get home to his family, Rick and new friends use their high-tech skills to warn the world of the coming disaster and expose the underground cities. Captain Kobalt, Cruikshank’s enforcer chases Rick and his friends across America leading to a climactic conflict between Rick and Kobalt.

Jason Offutt grew up on a farm near the little town of Orrick, Missouri. In his life he’s been a farm hand, journalist, photographer, bartender, and the mayor of that same small town. Jason now teaches journalism at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, and keeps the world safe from the forces of evil.
Okay, so now that the interview bio’s out the way, here’s who I really am. I’m a nerd. A Dungeons and Dragons playing, “Star Trek” watching, conspiracy theory Fanboy. “The Twilight Zone” is the greatest television program ever created, author Michael Crichton was a wizard, and I once went to a Halloween party dressed as Gilligan (my wife went as Mary Ann. Hubba hubba).
As a kid I looked for Sasquatch footprints in the yard, UFOs over our farmhouse (one night my whole family saw something that shouldn’t – couldn’t – have been in the sky. Damn straight), and one afternoon, alone, I saw a full-bodied apparition that stared at me through hollow eyes.
So, yeah. That’s me. If you want to talk writing, nerd stuff, or the paranormal, send me a message. I’ll try to respond as soon as possible, but if I’m on deadline, that cute kid in the picture can be kind of a dick.
OUR NEWS REPORTER RYAN FUSCO COVER'S UFO'S & THE STRANGE!
A former Pentagon official who now works for a UFO investigations organization claimed some of the material his group has reviewed could be the real deal.
"Our company over the last year and a half has actually obtained quite a bit of material," Luis Elizondo of the To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science said Friday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
"Some of that material -- its providence is frankly hearsay, while other providence of some of this material has been substantiated."
